FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 3, 2025 Sturgis, SD – Mud, machines, and mayhem collided at the 2025 Maxxis Black Hills Throwdown, where Ultra4 USA racers battled through brutal conditions at the legendary Buffalo Chip during the 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Rain rolled into the Black Hills midweek, transforming the already demanding 6‑mile course into a slippery, muddy battleground. Deep ruts, saturated climbs, and slick descents pushed racers to the edge—and beyond. But the weekend wasn’t just about racing. On Friday night, Ultra4 brought the action into the heart of the rally, parading race cars through the Buffalo Chip grounds and ending at the iconic Main Stage, where thousands of rallygoers cheered, mingled, and got up close with the drivers and machines. It was off-road meets rock-n-roll in true Sturgis fashion. |

Paul Wolff came out swinging in qualifying, sending it in his UTV, but took a hard hit, and then revealed lingering damage in the 4900 Open class during his race, forcing him to pull off after just four laps. His bad luck continued in the 4400 main, where after taking the green from pole, he had to retire again after just two laps.
Meanwhile, Cole Clark had parked his car in a cornfield during the Open race with mechanical issues. His crew thrashed to get the car ready for Saturday, and Cole lined up dead last in the 4400. In one of the most impressive drives of the weekend, he charged all the way to second place, finishing just 27 seconds behind race winner Paul Horschel on corrected time.
Travis Zollinger put on a masterclass in UTV racing, setting a track record of 7minute & 27 second lap time andsweeping both the 4900 Modified and 4900 Stock classes with clean laps and unmatched consistency.
Even the youngest drivers weren’t spared from the challenge. The Youth 1000 class took on the full 6-mile course, and Kayden Gamble rose to the occasion, holding off four other young racers to take the top spot in one of the most demanding youth races to date.
